Harassment, in general terms, is unwanted
conduct that has the purpose or effect of either violating
another person's dignity or creating an intimidating, hostile,
degrading, humiliating or offensive environment for men and
women in the workplace. It may be related to gender, race,
ethnic origin, nationality, disability, religion sexual
orientation, or age, and may be persistent or an isolated
incident. Harassment may occur in a face-to-face setting, by
telephone, in written or electronic communications. The key is
that the actions or comments are viewed as demeaning and
unacceptable to the recipient and it is important to take
